What is a HUD(Heads Up Display)?
HUD is the abbreviation of"Head Up Display".The Chinese name is head-up display, also called head-up display, hereinafter referred to as HUD.Head-up means that the pilot can see the important information he needs without looking down.
The head-up display first appeared on military aircraft, reducing the frequency of pilots needing to look down at the instruments, avoiding interruption of attention and loss of mastery of situation awareness(Situation Awareness).Because of the convenience of HUD and the ability to improve flight safety, civil aviation aircraft have also followed up with the installation.
Now,HUD is widely used in cars.Generally, there are more installations on luxury cars. Some low-end cars also have HUDs,and there are also rear-mounted HUDs.In particular, there are dozens of"fake HUDs"on a treasure",what is a"pseudo HUD"?I will introduce it to you in a later chapter.
Let's make up the physics knowledge learned in high school. When the object is at the focal point of the convex lens, the light emitted by the lens is parallel light, while the light emitted by the object within the focal length is a magnified upright virtual image.
The HUD uses this principle. The image of the LCD becomes a virtual image through the lens, and then enters the human eye through the reflection of the front windshield. The virtual image is more than 2m in front of the windshield(not projected onto the front windshield glass),so that the LCD and the front scene are deeply integrated, and the human eye can see the front scene and the LCD image at the same time without switching the focal length.
Of course, the real HUD is not as simple as the picture above. The image quality projected by a single simple magnifying glass is very poor.Generally,a lens group is used to realize the projection, and the installation volume is considered, and a reflector is also used.
